Multimap WTF??
Over the last year or so I have been enjoying Microsofts Version of Google Maps. It is far superior to what google is offering, features such as “Birds Eye View”, 3D buildings and being up to date made it my favorite online map service.
Recently Microsoft released an update for “Live Search Maps” which added loads of cool features. The majority are listed here, however I shall list a few
1.)The Ability to export your planned journey to your GPS device (or Google Earth)
2.)The Most Amazing, Most Beautiful 3D buildings I have ever seen.

3.)The Ability to apply over lays

4.)The Ability to zoom into an area and grab an RSS feed which will tell you what’s going on in that area.
5.) Traffic flow data
Sound good so far? Right now go and try it out maps.live.com. Good? Yep, Except if you live in the UK. Image my pain when after spending over a year loving this product and hearing about this update, I enter the URL only to find myself looking at “MULTIMAP!” WHAT!. Ah!
An inferior mapping service has replaced my beloved “Live Search Maps” why? Funny thing is, Multimap’s blog entry says and I quote direct from the entry “It may have been a while since you last used Multimap.com” Oh, I wonder why.
This is clearly a step back for Microsoft, why have they done this, I don’t know. What I do know is that I’m not the only one outraged by this. The link I provided above not only details the update, it also has a comments section, where fellow UKers are venting their anger.
I want to like Microsoft and support them, but I’m starting to loose faith.
14/04/08 Update: They’ve fixed it! Yipee!
